Five Guys Burgers and Fries

Now, onto another local fave:

Five Guys Burgers & Fries
several locations all around Chicago & burbs,
but I went to the newly opened Bloomingdale location

I just picked up the latest copy of Chicago magazine and featured on the front was the monstrosity of a burger at Five Guys. They have, apparently, made the list of Top 30 Burgers in Chicago. Although they didn't make the top 10 (they were 25 or something like that) in the 'zine, they are definitely on MY top 5 fave burgers (and those FRIES!!)

Alrightly.. enough words. You guys just want pictures anyway ;)

a close-up of the burger & fries

my friend's double w' cheese, lettuce, tomato, & ketchup (kinda boring if you ask me hehe)

my double w' cheese, bbq sauce, and grilled onions..

Now, if you've never been to 5G before, here's how to order...

(1) They have the option of a Regular Hamburger (with(out) cheese / bacon) or a Little Hamburger (with(out) cheese / bacon)... a LITTLE burger is just a single. A REGULAR is a DOUBLE.

(2) ALL toppings are free! (see below)
* Mayo
* Relish*
* Onions*
* Lettuce
* Pickles
* Tomatoes
* Grilled Onions
* Grilled Mushrooms
* Ketchup
* Mustard
* Jalapeno Peppers*
* Green Peppers
* A-1 Sauce*
* Bar-B-Q Sauce*
* Hot Sauce*
* Upon Request Only

(3) Their fries come "Regular" or "Large".. honestly, I have no clue how big the large is.. because every time I've gone I can never even finish the Regular sized fries. Also, their fries can be seasoned with Cajun spices... DO IT!!! Well, if you aren't a fan of spices, don't, but otherwise, be prepared to enjoy some of the best cajun fries around!

(4) If you are taking your order to go, DO NOT close the paper bag! As instructed by a 5G employee once, I kept the bag open until I got to my location. Why? If you trap the steam inside, the fries get soggy :)

So if this has your mouth watering or your stomach grumbling yet, stop reading this RIGHT now and head out to your local Five Guys! :)

Priscilla's Ultimate Soul Food

This past summer (which seemed to extend a few extra weeks for me) has been filled with TONS of fun food adventures.  Granted, I've gained a bit of weight because of it, I am proud to say that it is the result of some AMAZING food ;) hehe

Priscilla's Ultimate Soul Food
1020 S. Barrington Rd.
 Streamwood, IL 60107

Ooohhh mmyyyy GOD this place is amazing.  Seriously, we'd been looking for a decent place to make us proud of the NorthSide (Southside definitely rocks when it comes to having some great mom-&-pop stops)

We've been here so often in the past few weeks but we just cannot get enough! From the food to the super hospitable staff, it's hard to stay away..

Anyway, I'll let the pictures do the talking (be prepared to drool)

Rib tips (smothered in gravy), rice & (you guessed it..) more gravy, spaghetti, cornbread

Open Wednesday through Sunday, fried chicken (dark and white) and fried catfish are always available, but they always have a special entree that changes daily.

Wednesdays, they have salisbury steak, beef short ribs, and liver & onions.

Thursdays, you can find pot roast & potatoes, smothered chicken, beef short ribs, and ox tail.

Fridays, check out their seafood gumbo, beef short ribs, or smothered porkchops.

Saturdays, they have BBQ ribs, beef short ribs, and meatloaf.

Sundays, taste their beef short ribs, turkey, half baked chicken, hamhocks, and cornish hens

Man, just typing that up made me want to go back.. but I went their yesterday so I'll refrain myself :)

NABA Innercity 2009 - off the court

Snapped some pictures of people off the court - players & fans alike.

NABA Innercity 2009

So today was the final day for NABA Innercity 2009.  It was held in Joy of the Game in Deerfield, IL.  There were a LOT of filipinos from all over - Chicago, Toronto, Detroit, etc.  There were, I believe, 4 courts being used for the championship games of the weekend.
Included in this blog are my pictures of the game between Chicago PBA and Toronto Philcan.  Enjoy! =)
